IPR Workshop: Day 5
Today's all sessions were conducted by Prof. Noel DeSouza, a patent and intellectual property consultant. He started the session with explaining the three different patents obtained by Paster, Graham Bell. It was a very nice presentation and they way he took it forward was interesting. The presentation was filled with examples and anecdotes from his professional experience. The session included drafting examples and exercises

IPR Workshop: Day 4
Today was very eventful as many interesting topics were introduced and discussed. The day began with a discussion of two scenarios of patent application and we were asked to study those situations and comment upon them. It was very educative. This was followed by a session on "Third Party Involvement" and it covered basic definitions on who and what constitutes ''third party". Then a session on " Patent drafting" conducted. In the afternoon Thomas Spermt from Siemens made a very interesting and illustration presentation on " Patent drafting" with a case study

IPR Worksho: Day -3
Today's workshop started with the checking of homework given yesterday. In the homework, we were given about 13 "Front Pages " of granted patents and were asked to identify publication date, priority date, grant date and find out expiry dates. Solutions were checked by Mr Aravind and also added his interpretation to many of the answers. A session on Industrial design and design patent followed. IPR WORKSHOP: Day 2
Today started with a presentation by Dr. Nitin Deshpande, Uniliver Research India, who spoke about Patents with an Indian perspective. He made very detailed presentations on essential criteria that determines the fate of an patent application- novelty, non-obiviousness and statutory bars.
Second presentation was by Dr. Ramesh Krishnamurti, of Noro Nordisk which covered patent regime from US perspective and differences that exists between US patent regime and others. The message was that patent regimes are state specific.
Later presentations by Aravind who was ably assisted by Rachna Singh covered aspects such as patent contents, patentable matter etc

IPR Workshop: Dr. Nagambika Devi, IAS speech Highlights
Dr. Nagambika Devi, IAS, Secretary , Collegiate education, Karnataka inaugurated a 5 days TEQIP sponsored workshop on Intellectual Property Rights at MSRIT Bangalore today. In her inaugural address as the chief guest, among other things called for inclusion of financial literacy and law literacy as required courses in all educational programmes. It is true that most of us are lacking in these areas. As she said even a highly qualified people are not able to write an FIR or prepare thier own salary bill. A point to be noted.
